ClassicBy Ryan, August 28, 2006Geez, this picture looks like it belongs on the Internet, don’t you think? ![]() Anyway, this past week has been miserable. On Wednesday night, I lost my beloved orange OSU hat*, which I got as a present for my 14th birthday. On Thursday, I lost my wallet (which contained my driver’s permit, my student ID, and a dollar) and I went home from school at about 11:30 feeling absolutely awful. I got home, sat on the couch, closed my eyes, and never opened them again until 1:45... a much-needed 2-hour rest. On Friday, it didn’t feel like Friday at all. The school day dragged on and on and on!! And then there was Saturday. I had a Greenbar meeting (which is for Boy Scout leaders) followed by a troop swim party. That swim party was great... except that I was sunburned to the point that my skin was already peeling when I got home!! I have no complaints about Sunday, but today is a very different story. I had hardly any time at all today at home. I got home and it was immediately time to prepare to go to a Boy Scout Court of Honor, in which Scouts who advanced ranks and such are recognized with a banquet of sorts. Not that such a night would be so bad itself, but it was my last chance to talk to my good friend (whom I mentioned in Down By One recently). And my uniform irritated my sunburn very badly. I spent a lot of the day thinking about how badly I needed a hug or something. Geez, does God answer prayer or what?? I think I got hugs from, like, 5 different people (including one I jokingly stole from Justin)! And looking at that “good news” or whatever you want to call it, God is also showing me some other things He is doing for me. Like, for example, I now get to be a Couselor Aide, which is a job I’ve wanted to do for a long time. And another thing He showed me is my friend, John. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t thank God for parents like the ones I have, and I have John to owe it to that I don’t take good parents for granted. (Don’t get me wrong; I’m not trying to point and laugh at people with bad family situations. I just think that it’s good to be thankful for what I can have.) So, even though Thanksgiving is still a few months down the road, still try to be thankful for what God has given you, because He might not have given it to everyone else. { Posted 10:32 PM | E-Mail Post | Edit Post } Comments: 1
